pKa Measurement
Why Measure pKa?
If you are a chemical engineer you might want to know the pKa of your reagents, as it might affect the outcome of a reaction. In other words, a compound with an optimum pKa might serve as a superior catalyst for some important transformations
you wish to study.
- If you work in the pharmaceutical industry you might be interested in evaluating Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR) for the rapid assessment
of bioavailability and biocompatibility.
- If you work in the food manufacturing industry you might be interested in
obtaining pKa values in order to determine how certain compounds may
accelerate or retard spoilage.
- And many more reasons
